Brood X Adventures make national news!
The first fruits of my labor of love are here! Check out the CBS news article (and yes, scroll ways down to get to the part about me…): https://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/brood-x-cicadas-emerge-after-17-years-to-swarm-the-northeast/17/
There may be other highlights coming soon. This is all very exciting!
A trip to CVS and Walk-in Vaccination Clinic
Out cicada decided to stock up on supplies at CVS this morning. Our shopper realized soon enough that it did not really need tissues, or lasagna, or the ice cream it hoarded…
The cicada did not take well to wearing a mask but learned that it could get vaccinated at the walk-in clinic!!
The line for cicada vaccinations was not too bad and the air was fresh
Our friend did not realize this particular vaccine was in the arm…
Tadaaaaaaa
And proof, of course. Cicada opted for J&J due to life expectancy limitations in relation to receiving the second dose.
Independence Day Cookout and Fireworks!
This morning I introduced our cicadas to the of July 4th tradition. Most of our new backyard friends aren’t going to make it until then so I threw a July 4th cookout party for them, followed by fireworks over Washington DC.
Surprisingly, cicadas showed little interest in grilling and went straight for the booze
I wasn’t kidding! They completely ditched the grill and swarmed to the ice bucket!
This went on for a while and most of them were goners before the fireworks
But hey, the strongest ones did make it until dusk and really enjoyed the fireworks from Georgetown waterfront
My cicadas are making partisan news! :)

Laundry Day
Saturday was laundry day for my cicadas. One of them couldn’t wait to wear her fancy dress :)
Kick-off post!
So I am easily bored, as you know, and I want the 17-year cicadas to feel welcome and special. Yesterday I let them chill on the beach with a magazine and drinks and conducted a fire rescue operation. What should our cicadas do next?
